Cornerstone and Jeffrey Gaines

Saturday, July 18, 2009, 8:00 PM

Admission: $10 or $8 for IU Southeast Students

Location: Stem Hall

Cornerstone, an independent rock band from Modling, Austria, prepares for their first tour of the U.S. with shows in the south, midwest and northeast. Since the late 60s, bands have been "crossing the pond" to find fame and fortune in the United States. Enter Cornerstone (Austria), the next generation of rock and roll. Cornerstone is comprised of Carina Sethaler on vocals/guitar, Michael Wachelhofer on bass/keys/vocals, Stefan Wachelhofer, guitar/vocals, and Martin Key, drums/percussion. Winning the "Next Big Thing" contest sponsored by Alternative Addiction in 2008, Cornerstone seeks to capitalize on that early success by touring in both the United Kingdom and the United States. The band's summer U.S. tour begins in the metro Atlanta, GA, area and travels north, where the band will share the stage with singer/songwriter Jeffrey Gaines on Saturday July 18th at New Albany's The Ogle Center. Gaines has been releasing critically acclaimed music since 1992, when Rolling Stone magazine raved about his self-titled debut CD. Through the years Jeffrey has performed on World Café Live, The Mountain Stage, Good Morning America and Late Night with Conan O'Brien and has done nationwide tours opening for Sting, Stevie Nicks and Melissa Etheridge.
